Before you look at the chart, I need to explain a couple things…
Alexa Rating: This in simple terms is the Internet’s popularity contest. This chart gives you the example that Google’s Alexa rating is #1. So the lower the number the more popular, most used, most looked at the site is.
Unique Viewer: This doesn’t mean the viewer is someone famous, it just means that the person has never been to the site before EVER. So if this post is your first ever visit to my website – you gave me a unique viewer hit :) (thanx!)
If you remember back to when I posted the List of Free Porn post, I ranked them randomly on purpose because some sites have different contributing sources who dump their product online for you. I picked amateur sites, bdsm sites, milf sites, gay sites because I wanted to give you options.
Obviously through word of mouth, and by having the best content (so you fappers feel) @PornHub is ahead of the curve as far as mainstream goes. BUT, there is a great want for the amateur as well and YouPorn.com (which has some mainstream on it) is gaining in popularity.
Though, and this must be said, amateur clips tend to be shorter so of course they get more views per click. Just like the people who are still buying hard copies of porn tend to be older (for a few reasons)… therefore mainstream porn stars like Sasha Grey get less buys from brick and mortar shops (but more clicks) than someone old school like Vanessa Del Rio who will get more buys (less clicks).
